One of the most expensive aspect of prosthetic production is materials; good quality, body-safe silicone are expensive. No way around that. However, the price of materials is only as good as what we can make out of it, which is why even with the cost of silicone, it is still second to the price of skilled craftsmanship.
Folks takes years and years to hone their formula and technique to make the prosthethic that is available for everyone today. Often times, that means having a background from the entertainment industry, or formal internship. Here at theDickCompany, we’re new and we’re self-taught. We’ve gotten where we’ve gotten purely through experimentation and elbow grease and we make it work.
Then finally, a big part of making a damn good prosthetic is good technique and very, very expensive machinery. The kind of machinery that takes the guesswork out in every casting until what comes out of the mould is practically identical to the one before it.
Whilst our goal will always be quality products, we do lack the expensive machines needed to make every casting bubble-free and every model exactly the same as the one before it. That means there’s going to be models that present with small air bubbles or even coloration that aren’t uniform.
Therefore, we’ve made up the lack of it with a lower price.
